South Windsor police arrest 4 on drug, theft, threatening charges

SOUTH WINDSOR — Police arrested four people this week on charges ranging from drug possession and vehicle theft to threatening and violating restraining orders.

On Sunday, an officer spotted what she recognized as a stolen moped at 12:52 p.m. and initiated a traffic stop.

The officer confirmed the moped was stolen and identified the operator as Sabino Baez-Baez, 44, of South Windsor.

During the arrest, crack cocaine and a glass smoking pipe were found on Baez-Baez, police said.

He was charged with use of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and larceny of a motor vehicle.

Baez-Baez was processed and released on a $10,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on July 2 at 9 a.m.

On Tuesday at 1:01 p.m., police arrested Freddy I. Gonzalez, 43, of Hartford on an active arrest warrant for threatening in the second degree.

The charge stems from a domestic violence incident in May when Gonzalez threatened to kill the victim, according to police.

Gonzalez was taken into custody in Hartford and held on a $5,000 surety bond.

He was scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.

Also Tuesday at 7:32 p.m., police arrested Michele M. Gallant, 41, of Vernon on two active failure to appear arrest warrants.

Gallant was processed and released on a total bond of $10,000 and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on June 24 at 9 a.m.

At 7:49 p.m. Tuesday, police arrested Nathan A. Sugerman, 31, of Webster, Massachusetts, on an active arrest warrant for criminal violation of a restraining order.

The charge stems from a December 2024 incident in which Sugerman knowingly contacted a victim on two separate occasions in violation of a restraining order, police said.

Sugerman was held on a $2,500 surety bond and was scheduled to be presented in Manchester Superior Court Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.
