SOUTHEAST — State police arrested a Connecticut man on drug and impaired driving charges following a traffic stop early June 15.

Troopers from the State Police Brewster barracks stopped a 2018 Audi traveling westbound on Danbury Road in Southeast at approximately 3:27 a.m. for multiple traffic violations.

The driver, Jose A. Gonzalez, 42, of Brookfield, Connecticut, showed signs of impairment, police said.

Gonzalez failed standardized field sobriety tests administered by troopers.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 12.2 grams of cocaine, according to police.

Gonzalez was charged with criminal possession of a narcotic drug in the fourth degree, a class C felony.

He also faces two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, class A misdemeanors, and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Gonzalez was arraigned in Southeast Town Court and released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to appear in court July 8 at 9:30 a.m.
