STAMFORD — A 20-year-old man was arrested June 16 after fleeing from police while carrying a loaded handgun during a firearm investigation.
Elizer Dejesus was taken into custody at approximately 6:30 p.m. after discarding a loaded Palmetto State Armory 9mm handgun during a foot chase, according to the Stamford Police Department.
Members of the Stamford Police Department’s Narcotics & Organized Crime Unit were assisting Bridgeport Police Task Force Officers in a firearm-related investigation connected to a recent shooting in Bridgeport.
Officers attempted to execute a search warrant on Dejesus’ vehicle near Hoyt Street when he fled on foot while holding the firearm.
During the pursuit, Dejesus discarded the loaded handgun, which was equipped with a high-capacity magazine containing 21 rounds.
Dejesus was apprehended with help from the patrol division while attempting to enter a residence on Dolsen Place.
He was transported to police headquarters and charged with illegal transfer of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition, illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine, third-degree burglary and interfering with police.
Dejesus was held on $500,000 bond with a court date of June 30.
