SYLVAN BEACH — New York State Police arrested two men on drug charges following a traffic stop for an expired inspection on Main Street at 11:14 p.m. June 11.
Troopers stopped a vehicle driven by Thomas J. Spear, 58, of Blossvale, who provided inconsistent answers to questions and refused to make eye contact with officers.
A passenger, Brian A. Blowers, 50, of Taberg, refused to answer questions or cooperate with troopers.
Investigation revealed Blowers had an active warrant from the city of Oneida.
During a search following Blowers’ arrest on the warrant, troopers found a clear plastic container containing methamphetamine in his pocket.
A subsequent vehicle search uncovered a clear plastic bag containing methamphetamine between the driver’s seat and center console, as well as another bag of methamphetamine in a storage area above the visors.
Both men were transported to State Police Sylvan Beach.
Spear was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle without an inspection.
Blowers was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Both men were released with appearance tickets returnable to Sylvan Beach village court.
Blowers was then turned over to Oneida City Police Department on the active warrant.
