VANBUREN On June 29 at 12:21 a.m., State Police were called to a car accident near 2245 Warners Road in the town of VanBuren, Onondaga County.
Joseph C. Brown, a 39-year-old Syracuse resident, was interviewed by troopers upon arrival. He reported that he had lost control of a 2024 Chevrolet pickup truck.
According to the investigation, Brown lost control of the car owing to unsafe speed while driving west on Warners Road.
After leaving the road, the car hit an embankment off the north shoulder and flipped twice.
Brown was unharmed in the collision.
Troopers observed indications of potential intoxication while interviewing Brown.
Standardized field sobriety tests were given to Brown, who later failed them.
After being taken to SP Lysander and placed under arrest, Brown gave a breathalyzer reading of 0.18% BAC.
Brown was accused of aggravated driving while intoxicated (a misdemeanor), driving while intoxicated for the first time (a misdemeanor), moving from a lane unsafely (an infraction), and speeding that was not reasonable or prudent.
With appearance tickets that may be returned to the municipality of VanBuren Court at a later time, Brown was released.
