TROY — Troy Police detectives have arrested and charged a man in connection to a shooting that occurred last year.
On May 29, 2024, Troy Police patrols responded to the area of 6th Avenue and Middleburgh Street, where a male was found with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Officers were on the scene quickly and administered medical aid and secured the scene to ensure the victim received timely care from the Troy Fire Department before being transported to an area hospital.
Troy Police detectives investigated the incident and together with evidence technicians, conducted a search warrant and collected evidence.
As a result of their efforts, a suspect was developed.
The Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office presented the case to a Grand Jury, and an indictment was issued.
On June 11, Troy Police detectives arrested the suspect at the Nassau County Correctional Facility where he was being held on unrelated charges.
They transported him to Rensselaer County Court for arraignment.
He was remanded back to Nassau County Correctional Facility.
Jumar Tucker, 39, of Hempstead, N.Y., was charged with attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
