Utica police arrest 2 men on weapon, drug charges after traffic stop

UTICA — Two men were arrested on weapon and drug charges after a traffic stop near the intersection of Albany Street and Elizabeth Street on June 9.

Utica Police officers assigned to the Crime Prevention Unit conducted the vehicle stop at approximately 9:30 p.m. for vehicle and traffic law violations.

Officers noticed a corner knot baggie of suspected contraband in plain view on the floorboard while interviewing the occupants.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded 9mm handgun in the center console and additional suspected narcotics.

Both occupants were handcuffed and transported to the Utica Police Department.

Isaiah Parker, 22, of Syracuse, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

Sherief Robinson, 31, of Utica, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.
