UTICA According to police, a 30-year-old woman from Utica put a dog in a crate inside a closet and used spray foam to seal the door before leaving her residence. She has been charged with severe mistreatment to an animal.
After an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Utica Police Department, Anaiya Harris was charged on June 5.
In response to an allegation of animal abuse, police were called to a home in the 600 block of Lenox Avenue.
A dead dog was discovered in the apartment’s crate, according to the landlord.
The former tenant had left the apartment weeks before, the landlord informed the police.
The landlord found the dog imprisoned in a cage inside a closet when he went into the flat to clean and get it ready for a new renter.
According to the police, the closet door was spray foam sealed and latched.
Because of the incident’s circumstances, a member of the Criminal Investigations Division was given the investigation.
