Walton man charged with DWI after crash

WALTON After a single-vehicle collision on County Highway 21 in Walton on Thursday night, a citizen was taken into custody on a charge of driving while drunk.

At around 11 p.m. on June 19, deputies arrived at the scene, according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver was recognized by deputies as Walton resident Erol Tural, 75.

After an inquiry, Tural was taken into custody and charged with two misdemeanors under the New York State Penal Law: driving while drunk and driving with a blood alcohol value of 0.08% or higher.

In addition, he received traffic summonses for violating vehicle and traffic laws by moving out of his lane, having an obstructed plate, driving at an unreasonable or reckless pace, and failing to wear a seat belt.

Tural is expected to appear in Town of Walton Court later after being released on appearance tickets and traffic summonses.
