WATERTOWN Early on June 24, a Watertown man was taken into custody by state police during a traffic check on Mill Street.
When troopers noticed a grey Dodge SUV failing to stop completely at a red light at 2:23 a.m., they made the stop.
Officers found a clear, knotted packet in the dashboard area that contained two white pills and a white chalky substance while interviewing the driver, Ryan T. Mansfield-Martin, 38.
Crack cocaine was detected in the white material.
The two pills were determined to be a controlled substance classified as schedule two.
After being arrested, Mansfield-Martin was charged with two Class A misdemeanors: criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
He was given appearance tickets that he might later return to Jefferson County CAP Court.
