Watervliet juvenile arrested after displaying flare gun during altercation

Waterville Watervliet police officers were called to investigate an allegation of a suspect threatening someone with a pistol on June 26 at around 6:30 p.m.

Officers discovered during the investigation that a young man had raised his shirt to reveal what looked to be a pistol.

A suspect who fit the description was found by officers close to 19th Street and 10th Avenue.

Officers caught a male adolescent after a short foot pursuit and found a loaded flare gun close by.

A 13-year-old male resident was charged by Watervliet police with two Class A misdemeanors: criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and menacing in the second degree.

The minor received an appearance ticket for a future Family Court appearance and was released to a guardian.
