LEWIS On June 29, at around 2:10 a.m., New York State Police arrived at the scene of a motorcycle collision near the intersection of Hurley Road and County Route 10 in the town of Lewis.
Jeffrey E. Charles, 56, of Westport, was found to be traveling east on County Route 10 in a black 2008 Harley-Davidson, according to an investigation.
Charles was ejected from the motorcycle after he lost control of it while negotiating a bend, sending the vehicle and himself off the road and colliding with a tree.
Charles received life-saving treatment from Elizabethtown and Lewis EMS when they got on the scene.
After being taken to Elizabethtown Community Hospital, he passed away from his wounds.
The probe is still going on.
