Willimantic police arrest 2 men in separate business theft cases

WILLIMANTIC — The Willimantic Police Department has made arrests in two separate theft incidents at local businesses, reflecting the department’s commitment to investigating all cases, from minor offenses to high-profile crimes.

In the first case, officers arrested Dennis Sanchez after an investigation revealed that he entered Burger King on Columbia Avenue, forcibly removed a charity donation box from the counter, destroyed the box, and stole the money inside.

Sanchez, 62, was charged with larceny in the 6th degree, criminal mischief in the 3rd degree, and breach of peace in the 2nd degree.

In an unrelated incident, officers arrested Matthew Ryan Vik for stealing a tip jar from the counter at Dairy Queen.

Vik, 36, was charged with larceny in the 6th degree.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
