WINTERPORT After a brief confrontation on S Main Street due to domestic violence, Maine State Police arrested a 43-year-old male Thursday morning.
At around 9:06 a.m., a woman called 911 to report that she had been abused by her boyfriend at the Augusta Regional Communications Center.
The caller informed dispatchers that woman and her 9-year-old kid were trapped in a bathroom within the house.
She mentioned that her partner was under the influence of narcotics and had access to firearms.
The mom was able to leave the house safely with her son.
The woman was slightly hurt, but the infant was unharmed.
The male subject was contacted several times, although the attempts were initially fruitless.
Shortly afterward, the man left the house and was safely brought into custody.
Joshua Martin, who lives at the address S Main Street, was recognized as the individual.
After being taken to the Waldo County Jail, Martin was accused of violating his release conditions, creating a police standoff, and domestic violence assault.
The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine Forest Service, and the Maine Marine Patrol provided support to the Maine State Police.
